Why Kambô

In my ceremonies, Kambo is offered as a traditional practice in a non-medical setting. No medical claims are made, and this experience is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. The information below is shared for educational purposes only.

Kambo is known for creating a strong, short, and immersive physical experience that engages multiple systems in the body at once. Many people are drawn to it for the sense of reset, release, and reconnection it can offer.

During a session, the body moves through a natural and often intense process that may include sensations such as heat, pressure, increased heart rate, and a temporary release response. This phase is typically short-lived and is followed by a period of stillness, grounding, and reflection.

Rather than acting in a single way, Kambo involves a complex interaction within the body, which is why the experience is often described as both physical and internal. Each session is unique and can vary depending on the individual, their preparation, and the environment in which the session is held.

The Role of Peptides

Kambo contains a range of naturally occurring bioactive peptides. These are short chains of amino acids that interact with different systems in the body.

Dermorphin & Deltorphin
Associated with the body’s opioid receptors, influencing how sensations are experienced during the session.

Phyllokinin & Sauvagine
Linked to circulation and cardiovascular responses, contributing to sensations such as warmth, flushing, and changes in heart rate.

Phyllomedusin & Phyllocaerulein
Connected to smooth muscle and digestive activity, playing a role in the body’s natural response processes during the experience.

Dermaseptins
Studied for their interaction with microorganisms in laboratory settings, reflecting the biochemical complexity of the secretion.

A Personal Experience

Kambo is often experienced as a process rather than a product — one that invites presence, awareness, and connection to the body. For some, it is a way to step out of routine patterns and reconnect with a deeper sense of clarity and grounding.

Because each person is different, the experience can vary widely. What remains consistent is the importance of proper preparation, a safe environment, and skilled guidance, ensuring the experience is approached with respect and care.

Do Your Own Research

I encourage everyone to take the time to do their own research before deciding to participate in a Kambo session. Understanding the process, the intensity of the experience, and the traditional context in which it is used can help you make a fully informed and aligned decision.
